PLA Biobased Nonwoven

 

Biobased Compostable / Biodegradable Polylactic Acid (PLA) nonwoven fabric –
To cope with the anti-plastic regulations imposed by government and environmental protection criteria, a production line at 2.4 meters wide is designed with in-house proprietary technology, to manufacture spunbonded nonwovens using biobased polymer, Polylactic Acid (PLA) exclusively with weights ranging from 17 to 150 gsm.  On top of making contributions to the environment and ecology, PLA also exerts great benefits to human health.  PLA offers a selection of superior properties naturally without having to add chemical additives / treatments of any kinds.  Its unique sub-acid characteristics are close to the pH value of human skin and it is therefore skin-friendly, hypoallergenic, bacteriostatic as well as odor suppression, mite suppression, excellent moisture evaporation, high UV light resistance and good flame retardant effect.   Because of these distinctive features, medical & healthcare products made by PLA material find it extremely beneficial particularly for those with direct skin contact.  It is also the key to answer to the global environmental protection requirements.  Plant based products result in less carbon emission compared to conventional products made of fossil based plastics. 

PLA outperforms PP & PET in UV protection. It is widely used to replace PP or PET for farming application as crop mulch and fruit packaging.  Instead of planting the seeds traditionally one by one by hand, the seeds can be pre planted onto the nonwoven rolls and being unwind on the fields by agricultural vehicles to increase the harvest and yield.  Other than that, farmers will save a great deal of time and effort to remove the PP debris from the field as PLA nonwoven buried in the soil over time will transform to CO2 and H2O and act as fertilizer.  Fields mixed with unremoved PP or PET debris will damage the soil quality and affect the harvest.  Fruit packaging also benefits from PLA's excellent moisture evaporation property being highly breathable and stays dry to minimize the chance of the fruit from being rotten by the mildew.
